Aug 29, 2016 · DD-WRT give you enterprise like features that are not typically available on soho hardware, like vlans, qos (and QinQ), radius client authentication, and so on. If you don't use any of that stuff then stock will work for you. BUT if you want to go the soho route, I would surly purchase hardware that is compatible with dd-wrt/openwrt/or tomato

Also this might be a stock feature with the netgear genie, im really not sure. Most of the other popular options are now incorperated directly into the factory firmware and no need to swap to DD-WRT for these.
